christmas-holiday-parade-of-boats-2Since 1963, people gather in Marina del Rey to celebrate the holiday boat parade. With only 100 boats in the marina when it first started and only 20 boats entered into the parade, it has come a long way since then.

This year’s theme is Adventures by the Sea! Parade will be on Saturday, December 10th at 6:00 pm. Fireworks will go off at 5:55 pm before the parade so get there early! Best viewing spot is Burton Chace Park. Boats circle around 3 times, so you will see plenty of colorful lit up vessels!

If you would like to enter your boat into the parade visit their website for the entry form. Entry fees start at $25.00 and go upwards of $50 depending on what category you fall under. Special Awards are judged based on best theme, animation, music, spirit, lights, and live band. They also have awards for each category, and one sweepstakes award for best overall. Be creative and get decorating!

For more information call 310-670-7130 or visit mdrboatparade.org.

Have fun, be safe and enjoy!

Happy Holidays!
